Long Way To Indigo

Story Behind The Song

The Indigo Alley was a successful music bar in Scarborough, England, where many talented musicians performed. During a period of several years it was the place to be, and to meet like-minded people. Sadly the folk who ran the bar decided to move on in 2008, and thus ended an era. The song was loosely inspired by the sense of loss of not only a great music venue but also of the community which frequented it.

Song Description

The song reflects a time of contemplation, looking back at a relationship and feeling the call of the road. Indigo is a bar where the couple met which reminds the artist of a time when things were good.

Lyrics

Are we crazy, are we true?
Are we invincible or are we through?
Are we kindhearted, are we mean?
Are we broken, a little obscene?

Are we rich, are we poor?
Are we happy baby, are we sure?
Are we delicate, are we cool?
Have we forgotten, acting like fools?

(chorus)
One light, one road, one mind to leave,
It's a long way back to Indigo,
And your face is all I see.

Are we brave, are we proud?
Are we contented, are we allowed?
Are we warm, are we kind?
Are we desperate or are we blind?

(chorus)

Instrument break mid 8

(repeat 1st verse and chorus x 2 )
